Easy Read Information

The Redevelopment Team are the group of people who are responsible for building the new hospital and the other buildings.

This page gives more information about the new Royal Hospital in Liverpool.

What we do

The Redevelopment Team work with clinical and administration Teams across the current Hospital to ensure they are prepared for working in the new Royal. The Team work closely with our partners Carillion to ensure our new hospital is the best facility it can possibly be.

New Royal design

The new Royal will be a world-class hospital.

Bigger Hospital

It will have 18 theatres and 23 wards, a large clinical research facility and a 40-bedded intensive therapy unit.

Better access

The emergency department will also be one of largest in the North West with a CT scanner and special lifts which go straight to theatres for major trauma patients.
There will be an underground car park for patients and visitors and buses will come onto the site, enabling better and easier access to the hospital.

Greater Privacy

The new Royal will also be the largest in the country to provide all single en-suite bedrooms for patients.

We believe that modern healthcare is as much about privacy, comfort and dignity as it is about pioneering treatments and cutting-edge technology.

Greener and Eco-friendly

Landscaping and green space on the site will be about the same size as Chavasse Park.

Additionally, the hospital will be one of the greenest in the country with renewable energy systems and low carbon technology.
